A Smart Start to Your Academic Career!
July 29 – August 25, 2024
The College of Engineering’s Summer Launch program at UW-Madison welcomes admitted, first-year engineering students to campus the summer before their first semester. During Summer Launch, students get to experience life on campus, live in university housing, connect with other incoming engineering students, and take courses for credit on the engineering campus. The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and The Department of Mechanical Engineering each offer an introductory design course for any admitted engineering student interested in learning more about these areas.
It’s a great way to make new friends, jump start your academic career, and begin your life as a Badger engineer!
What is Summer Launch?
The UW-Madison College of Engineering offers two Summer Launch programs, one for Electrical and Computer Engineering, and one for Mechanical Engineering. Summer Launch students will get hands-on classroom and lab experience on the UW-Madison engineering campus. Any student who has been accepted to the UW-Madison engineering program for their first year is eligible to participate, regardless of intended engineering major.
Electrical and Computer Engineering Summer Launch
Looking to explore the fields of Electrical or Computer Engineering? UW-ECE welcomes you to take part in a great, hands-on experience through ECE 210: Introductory Experience in Electrical Engineering. A required course for both electrical and computer engineering students, it may also satisfy design credits for other majors. This two-credit course is taught in the state-of-the-art Thompson Electronics Design Studio.
In addition to ECE 210, students can get support transitioning to UW-Madison with CP 125: The Wisconsin Experience Seminar.
